World Police and Fire Games

In 2007, The World Police and Fire Games was the largest sporting event ever held in South Australia. In terms of the number of events and competitors in South Australia they were larger than either the Olympic Games or Commonwealth Games. Almost 8,100 competitors attended The Games in 79 events over 10 days at 55 venues in Adelaide and regional South Australia, including road cycling, biathlon, triathlon, cross-country and half-marathon events.

EMA’s Jodi Pfitzner was the Major Event Manager for this enormous sporting undertaking, responsible for the Opening Ceremony, Closing Ceremony, entertainment village, sports, exhibition, information centre and VIP functions (2006/07).

Jodi delivered a highly successful social and entertainment program that is still remembered as a highlight by visiting athletes, and was recognised at the time as being the finest ever at a WPFG. The 2007 WPFG delivered an economic benefit to the State of South Australia measured at over $32 million.
